The project serves to document the experiences of young people on an array of issues that affect. The Oral Testimonies are open-ended interviews around a series of topics that draw on direct personal experience. It is also hoped that the project will stimulate appropriate action such as a national policy framework for adaptation to solutions that address the issues raised by various communities.
As part of its oral testimony project, in March 2011, AFRICMIL put together in a booklet tilted Sentenced in God’s Name: The Untold Story of Nigeria’s “Witch Children”, some chilling stories and interviews of children branded as “witches” in Akwa Ibom State, south-south Nigeria. We hope this booklet will generate the necessary interest and attention to put an end to this savagery carried out in the name of religion.
