AFRICMIL Kano town hall meeting on whistle blowing and the fight against corruption in Nigeria

To achieve the aim of sensitizing the public about the whistleblower policy, AFRICMIL held the first in its series of town hall meetings with stakeholders and the public on February 20, 2018, in Kano, North-West Nigeria.

In December 2016, the Nigerian government launched a whistleblower policy as part of efforts to strengthen the war against corruption.

Since then, the African Centre for Media & Information Literacy (AFRICMIL) through its accountability project tagged Corruption Anonymous has been engaging the whistle blower initiative. The purpose of the project which is supported by The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation is to build public confidence and support for the whistle blower policy and advocate for clear rules and guidelines for the safety of whistle-blowers.
