Ahead of 2021 Conference, ACSPN-UNESCO release new book on Knowledge Societies: Artificial Intelligence and the Media

The Association of Communication Scholars & Professionals of Nigeria (ACSPN), has blazed another trail, with the publication of probably one of the earliest attempts, to coalesce knowledge on a  major force in the global technology space, with the release of a new book on Knowledge Societies: Artificial Intelligence and the Media

The book is a collaboration with, and was funded by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). It is edited by Prof Adebayo Fayoyin, first Diaspora Visiting Fellow of ACSPN, and Ifedolapo Ademosu, who recently jointly won the UNICEF-IAMCR C4D Research Fund Award for 2021.

The book, featuring contributions from Nigeria and Kenya, and which would be launched at the conference, is to be freely donated to institutions, organizations, libraries, individuals, locally and internationally, and would be available on open access. Participants at the 8th ACSPN Annual Conference in Port-Harcourt, Nigeria, would receive copies for themselves and their institutions/organizations, but distribution would be much wider.

– Chapter 6- Artificial Intelligence and Broadcast Media Presentation in Nigeria: What Does the Future Hold? – Comfort Ojoma Ukwela

– Chapter 7- The Age of the Robotic Reporter, – Tunde Odediran

– Chapter 8- Communication Made Easy? Users’ Perception of AI-Voice Activated Virtual Assistants on Mobile Devices – Solomon Oyeleye and Ifedolapo Ademosu

– Chapter 9- Imperatives of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for 21st-Century Smart Universities in Nigeria, – Adebola Adewunmi Aderibigbe

– Chapter 10- Artificial Intelligence and Gendered Communication: An Examination of Stereotypical Portrayals in Africa – Juliet W Macharia
