In keeping with what is becoming a tradition, and an affirmation of relevance and subscription to glocal themes and issues, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), has endorsed the 8th Annual Conference of the Association of Communication Scholars & Professionals of Nigeria (ACSPN), on “Media and Citizens Participation in Governance for Accountability and Peace in Society “, holding from September 1-2, 2021, at Hotel Presidential, Aba Road, Port-Harcourt, Rivers State.

In a letter dated February 21, 2021, Mr Mamoudou Lamine Sow, Senior Programme Specialist, UNESCO Regional Office, Abuja, identified with the focus of the conference, and expressed delight with the female researchers panel and the special panel, noting that the agency is pleased to subscribe to efforts to find solutions through the conference, to issues of citizen’s participation in governance and achieving accountability.

UNESCO therefore pledged technical support, to ensure the success of the conference, its promotion on the agency’s online platforms, and to support the production of conference materials.

The theme of the Special Panel is: “Media, Democracy and Accountability”, while the theme of the 3rd ACSPN Female Researcher’s Panel is: “Governance, Women, Media and Inclusive Society.”

The Local Organizing Committee is working smart to deliver, and the conference is promising to be an unforgettable intellectual, professional, and research feast.

Port-Harcourt beckons.

Plan and prepare to be there.
